Who invented football, but first things first, what is it?
We can divide the sport in two categories. One being Football or soccer, played by kicking a round ball by foot. The other being American Football, where an oval shaped ball is being kicked by foot but mostly played by being carried around. It is thrown across the field by hand.
The meaning of Football varies from country to country. This is due to the language of those countries, to their acculturation, or the sports popularity of country or region. Football is often associated with any of the above codes.
Mainly to association football as the most popular worldwide. For the latter, also used the word soccer. It is used in countries where it is the most popular sport, including: Australia, Canada, USA, Ireland (except in urban areas), New Zealand, the United Kingdom and some Commonwealth of Nations and the British Empire.
In the places mentioned, the word football usually refers to either rugby, Australian football, American, Canadian, or Gaelic.
In other words, football refers to american football, while the rest of the world is uses a corresponding word (eg, in German fussball).
Thus, during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, various sports were generated by evolving soccer. All but the rugby (rarely called “rugby football”), retained the name “football”. Other ball games have been called “soccer”.
Football or soccer is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players each. It is widely regarded as the world’s most popular sport, with about 270 million people. It is played on a rectangular field of grass, with a goal on each side of the field. The object is to move a ball across the field and put it inside the opponents’ goal. The team that scores the most goals at the end of the game wins. Unlike other, it is played primarily with the feet, except the goalkeeper. He or she is the only player who can use its hands and arms in certain parts of the field while the ball is in play.
The modern game was created in England following the formation of the Football Association, whose 1863 game rules are the foundation of the sport today. The governing body is the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, known by the acronym FIFA. The international competition is the most prestigious FIFA World Cup, held every four years. This event is the most famous and has the most amount of viewers worldwide, doubling the audience of the Olympic games.
